Dennis Wakaba

Dennis Wakaba holds a Degree in BA Planning (hons) from the University of Nairobi and master’s in planning at the same university.
Wakaba is a seasoned Urban Planner by profession. In addition, an E- mobility Specialist, a Geographic Information Systems Expert, and Sustainable Development Enthusiast who endeavors to use of new technologies that build smart, resilient, adaptive and sustainable cities that improve quality of life for all. Since 2014, he has been involved in multiple projects in the preparation and implementation of Master plans; urban designs; mobility plans, policies and standards formulation, mapping, and feasibility studies.
He currently works as Electric Mobility Lead Advisor at BEV Africa and previously served as the Head of Public Affairs and product support at Roam Electric around the development of Electric mobility strategies, business models; E-mobility standards, policy formulation, deployment of charging infrastructure and making Electric Buses accessible allover Sub-Saharan Africa.
Wakaba is a founding member and Secretary General of Electric Mobility association of Kenya (EMAK), a member of the KEBS technical committee on E-mobility, was the lead consultant in formulating the first Strategic Plan for AEMDA (Association for Electric Mobility & Development in Africa), assisted in shaping charging infrastructure policies at national and county levels, and most significantly spearheaded the launch of the first Electric Mass Transit bus which has been operational on Kenyan roads since August 2022.
His current and future interests are to spearhead Electric Mobility Integration in Africa, smart innovations in the fields of urban planning, climate/emissions mitigation, and renewable energy mainstreaming nationally and regionally.
