As Africa’s premier gathering for critical mineral industry stakeholders, CMA 2024 returns to Cape Town with an expanded program, providing a strategic platform for dialogue, deal signing and industry collaboration. Under the theme, “Innovate. Enact. Invest in African Critical Minerals to Sustain Global Growth,” the 2024 agenda will feature high-level panel discussions, dedicated critical mineral and project showcases, and country spotlight sessions exploring Africa’s central role in the energy transition. With the continent home to 30% of the world’s critical minerals – including copper, lithium, platinum group metals, graphite, rare earth elements and cobalt – its contribution to global market stability cannot be overstated.
Stepping into this picture, CMA 2024 delivers on its commitment to unite African stakeholders with global partners to foster broad industry growth. This year, the summit features a Ministerial Forum where high-level government officials will discuss the role of policy, infrastructure development and international collaboration in accelerating the continent’s critical minerals sector. Panelists include Malawi’s Minister of Mining, Monica Chang'anamuno; Democratic Republic of Congo’s Minister of Industry and SME Development, Louis Kabamba Watum; Zimbabwe’s Deputy Minister of Mines, Hon. Polite Kambamura and Eswatini’s Minister of Natural Resources and Energy, HRH Prince Lonkhokhela.
CMA 2024 will also showcase specific African mining projects to global investors, exploring the impact of global trends on the continent’s mining expansion and how investors can engage with available opportunities. Participating companies and organizations include the World Bank, KoBold Metals, Premier African Minerals, the U.S. Export-Import Bank, Isondo Precious Metals, Glencore, Pensana, Orion Minerals and more.
In addition, CMA will feature key industry associations and chambers of commerce from across the globe, including the UK-Angola Chamber of Commerce, Tanzania Chamber of Mines, Chamber of Mines of Mozambique, Mining Industry Association of Southern Africa, Zambia Chamber of Mines, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and Southern African-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, among others.
