Louis Watum Kabamba is a mining operator born in Kinshasa and in his sixties. A former engineer at Gécamines in Shituru/Likasai, he was one of the key players in Africa's largest gold mining project, Kibali-Gold Mines of the Barrick group, based in Haut-Uéle in the DRC. He is one of the architects of the gigantic Kamoa-Kakula copper project of the Ivanhoé Mines company in Lualaba. He was also Managing Director of Kipushi Corporation (KICO). Until his appointment to the Suminwa Government, he was President of the Chamber of Mines of the Federation of Congolese Enterprises.
